There is something comforting about when a
car crash fatality makes the front page of the Irish Times. In the US, I wouldn't bat an eye. Along the same lines, I enjoy the amount of shock and awe that people have about crime here. Someone gets stabbed and it's all over the radio; gun violence is a national headline story. To me, it's no big deal. Not sure if I feel tough or if that's just sad...I wonder what people here would think if they saw a 6-day
violent crime report map of my old neighborhood in Minneapolis!
